One-year clinical specialization course for selected wavelengths

This offer is geared towards dentists who would like to specialize in certain wavelengths. Over the course of one year, participants are taught fundamental physical and technical knowledge and how to recognize primary, secondary, and tertiary indications on ten attendance days split into four modules.
 

The course is divided into four modules:


Modules I (2 days)

 

• Laser physics and laser safety (Laser Safety Officer certification)
• Laser structure, function and handling - hands-on laser-tissue interaction

Modules II (4 days)

Diode Lasers, Photo-Dynamic Therapy

 

• Theoretical background, clinical indications, skill training and demo treatments
• Responsable usage of Diode-Lasers and understanding of biophysical backgrouds (absorption and transmission in special tissue)
• Accurate application of all relevant clinical indications of Diode-Lasers
• Photo-Dynamic Therapy

Module III (4 days)

Er:YAG-Lasers, Er,Cr:YSGG-Lasers

 

• Theoretical background, clinical indications, skill training and demo treatments
• Treatment protocols of different indications
• Responsible usage of Erbium-Lasers and understanding of biophysical backgrounds (absorption and transmission in special tissues)

Module IV (2 days)

• Written examination
• Presentation of five clinical treatment cases

After successful completion of the course, participants get a joint certificate from the RWTH Aachen University Hospital and the cooperating Local Laser Dentistry Association identifying them as a “Lasers in Dentistry" specialist.
