One-year clinical specialization course for selected wavelengths
This offer is geared towards dentists who would like to specialize in certain wavelengths. Over the course of one year, participants are taught fundamental physical and technical knowledge and how to recognize primary, secondary, and tertiary indications on ten attendance days split into four modules.
The following wavelengths are taught:
- Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG Lasers
- Diode Laser High Power and Low-Level-Laser Therapy (LLLT), Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and Laser Diagnosis
- Nd:YAG Laser and CO2 Laser
The course is divided into four modules:
Modules I, II (2 days)
- Laser physics and laser safety (Laser Safety Officer certification)
- Laser structure, function and handling - hands-on laser-tissue interaction
Modules III, IV (3 days)
Nd:YAG Lasers, Diode Low and High Power Lasers, CO2 Lasers
- Theoretical background, clinical indications, skill training and demo treatments
- Biophysical background (absorption and transmission in special kinds of tissue)
- Clinical importance for e.g. periodontics, implantology, endodontics and soft-tissue surgery
Module V (3 days)
Er:YAG (2.940 nm)/ Er,Cr:YSGG (2.790 nm) in Soft Tissue
- Theoretical background, clinical indications, skill training and demo treatments
- Communication and application of suitable indications
- Marketing and billing
Module VI (2 days)
- Practical and written examination
- Presentation of five clinical treatment cases
After successful completion of the course, participants get a joint certificate from the RWTH Aachen University Hospital and the cooperating Local Laser Dentistry Association identifying them as a “Lasers in Dentistry" specialist.
