In 2024, the 19th ISLD Congress will take place in Porto, Portugal. This educational meeting will include lectures, seminars, teaching courses, research symposiums and interactive sessions with case discussions in laser dentistry research, basic science and, above all, patient care. We expect participants from all over the world.

On the first day, on the 6th of June 2024, we will also meet for the 10th WALED conference here. WALED is the alumni organization of AALZ, the Aachen Dental Laser Center.

We hope that we can join us in Porto to make ISLD 2024 a successful and unforgettable meeting. We hope to see you in Porto, a city that won’t disappoint you.

Dear WALED members around the world,

The next WALED meeting will take place on the first day of the ISLD world congress in Cairo next year. It will be for all of us a great opportunity that we can execute our own International WALED meeting during and even on the first day of the general congress.

Keeping our promise of “lifelong learning” very serious, we will also this time update your knowledge by the lecture of Marcia Marques, which will give you the “state of the art” in biophotomodulation and LLLT with an overview of latest research and knowledge in this more and more important discipline of laser therapy.

Another yearly continuing part of the WALED congress day is your update in physics, which we this year will do during a physics quiz event, wherein we will have different teams (countries) competing with each other’s, under the supreme leadership of our quiz master Rene Franzen.

As always, several fresh MSc and Mastership graduates will present their master thesis results, and/or interesting clinical cases. For this part you can now register and send your abstract to me. You will find the call for abstracts below.

Beside the scientific input, the social part of our WALED events plays a major role in the decision to participate, but it will be also very important to support our WALED member Youssef Sedky – being Organizing Chairman of the ISLD congress – by active participating in the WALED and in the ISLD congress next year. We are already working to make the WALED night on the first evening of the congress as unforgettable as always, and I am sure that we find together with Youssef the right location to make it happen.

A last idea which I am working out these days is, that several of you are asking whether we would go for some holidays in the days after the congress in one of the areas of Egypt. We try to get a group price for one of the holiday resorts, and I will come back to you with more information soon under the name “WALED holiday resort”!

Dear friends, dear colleagues, honourable dentists from around the world,

It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to welcome you to our joined world congress of laser dentistry here in Aachen. This celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the ISLD (International Society for Laser Dentistry) in 1988 in Tokyo here in Aachen, is a very big honour and challenge for us. Especially because of the fact that I started already 2 years after the foundation of ISLD with a dental laser center at RWTH Aachen University, focussing on basic and preclinical research, education, as well as the development of laser integrated treatment concepts.

It is also a great joy for me to inform you that we could appoint Prof. Lynn Powell, one of the founding members and former president of ISLD, to be the scientific chairman of this upcoming congress. He has shown his dedication for laser dentistry over a period of more then 30 years, and still today we are supported by his input in this special field of dentistry.

It is my intention to make this congress a turning point in the setup and structure of executing such congresses. This congress will integrate science and practical experience on different levels of presentations and demonstrations, like high ranked international keynote speakers, on stage life patient demonstrations, interactive digital poster presentations, oral presentations combined with clinical relevant skill training, short presentations of latest research findings, outstanding clinical case presentations, rotating company supporting workshops, and last but not least gaining continuous education certificates.

I cordially invite also all dental laser companies to take this opportunity to present and demonstrate their products during this special anniversary world congress!

For many laser dentists worldwide this congress will be “coming back home to Aachen”, to the RWTH Aachen University Hospital, where this congress will be executed. Aachen, the founding city of the German nation in the year 800, the city of Charlemagne in the heart of Europe, which will surprise you with his historical charm. Let it captivate you!

I would like to inform you more detailed about the upcoming 3^rd International WALED (World Academy of Laser Education in Dentistry) Congress and the 24^th Annual Meeting of the DGL (German Society of Lasers in Dentistry) from 26-28 November 2015 in Berlin.

The 3^rd WALED Congress will be held on Thursday 26 November 2015 in the Pullman Hotel Berlin, and this congress is as you all know only open for all AALZ and RWTH Aachen University Master and Mastership/Fellowship graduates and students. Our graduates will give the presentations and lectures (Call for papers open) and we will also have a very interesting discussion forum about the newest technologies in the field of semi conductor lasers, leaded by Prof. Gutknecht. Of course we will ensure a full board catering during this day.

The 24^th Annual Meeting of the DGL will be held from 27-28 (Friday-Saturday) November 2015 in the Palace Hotel Berlin, just beside the Pullman Hotel. The DGL is one of the oldest and largest dental laser societies worldwide, and many opinion leaders will present their latest clinical or basic laser research results. There will be a large dental exhibition in the congress hotel, and the catering (full board) will be in this exhibition area. Especially Friday 27 November will be interesting for international guests, because all presentations will be simultaneously translated.

There will be also for the first time mastership/fellowship exams during the congress days and the certification ceremony will be held during our well known WALED – DGL gala dinner on Saturday 28 November in the Palace Hotel Berlin. The fees for the gala dinner are already included in the congress fees package, like the last 2 years. After the certification ceremony this gala dinner will end into an exiting Get Together party with our own life band and disc jockey. Believe me, you will remember this night!

The fees for the whole event, including the full catering during the 2 congresses and the Gala Dinner on Saturday 28 November wherein the certification ceremony will be held, are arranged as special package for you for only 380 Euro all inclusive! You can only select this complete package!

Please find attached a list of the 2 congress hotels and selected hotels in the direct neighborhood. But of course you are free to select the hotel of your choice, as Berlin has lots of hotels in all different categories. The metro system in this city is very good and easy to use in case you select a hotel in another part of the city. So all ingredients are there to make it an exiting trip to the capital of Germany with this great history.

We count on you to be present in the congresses, to see again your “old” classmates and to meet new faces of our alumni network. Berlin on top is the place to be in Germany, and you will for sure enjoy it – also because it will be already Christmas time and this means Christmas shopping with nice Christmas markets to enjoy.
